High Index Lenses
Designed for people who require strong prescriptions, these eyeglass lenses are lighter and thinner than the standard, thick "coke bottle" lenses that may otherwise be needed.
Polarized Lenses
Light reflected from water or a flat surface can cause unwanted glare. Polarized lenses reduce glare and are useful for sports and driving. These lenses may cause the liquid crystal displays on the dashboard of cars to appear invisible.
Polycarbonate Lenses
These eyeglass lenses are impact-resistant and are a good choice for people who regularly participate in sporting activities, work in a job environment in which their eyeglasses may be easily scratched or broken, and for children who may easily drop and scratch their eyeglasses. Polycarbonate lenses also provide ultraviolet protection.
Scratch Resistant Lenses
There’s no such thing as scratch-proof lenses. (Even glass lenses can be scratched!) Scratches, while not likely to affect your lens performance, are an annoyance that can interfere with clear vision. That’s why you should always request scratch resistant lenses (treatment) for your eyeglass lenses.
Many of today’s lens products have hard scratch-resistant protection built into the lens—a hard surface treatment that is specifically designed to resist scratches. But it’s not an automatic feature! Be sure to discuss scratch resistant glasses options with your eye care professional.
No eyeglass material is scratch proof. However, a lens that is treated front and back with a clear, hard coating does become more resistant to scratching, whether it’s from dropping your glasses on the floor or occasionally cleaning them with a paper towel. Kid’s lenses, especially, benefit from a scratch resistant hard coat.
TD2 makes your lenses last longer with the scratch-resistant technology of our TD2 coating. This process blocks scratches from both sides of your
lenses with the full protection of the unique TD2 coating technology. Designed to withstand the harshest environment, TD2 protects your lenses from scratches
ensuring the best visual clarity for your eyes.

Photochromic Lenses
Made from either glass or plastic, these eyeglasses change from clear to tinted when exposed to sunlight. This eliminates the need for prescription sunglasses. Some photochromic lenses may not darken in a car because the windshield could block the ultraviolet rays from the sun.

There are clear lenses that can darken. There are sunglasses that are polarized. But never before have everday eyeglass lenses been able to both darken and polarize in bright, outdoor light. Until now.
Noticeably crisper, sharper vision.
Bright sunlight can cause glare when light scatters off reflective surfaces, which causes discomfort and dull, washed-out images. Polarization filters this light, so you get better clarity.
As Transtition Vantage lenses get darker, the polarization increases. And that means your vision gets crisper and sharper. Color contrast and perception becomes richer, vibrant and more vivid. All this, even in the brightest outdoor glare.
- Richer, vibrant and more vivid colors
- Outdoor vision is noticeably crisper
- Glass and water look more transparent outdoors
- Glare is reduced to provide more comfort, even in the brightest sunlight.

A lens which has established itself as the gold standard “natural vision” progressive lenses.
Progressive lenses are used to correct presbyopia.
What is presbyopia?
Presbyopia is a natural evolution of eyesight due to decreased elasticity of the crystalline lens. This visual deficiency is characterised by signs that appear around the age of 40: blurred close-up vision, need to hold objects further away, need for additional light, etc.
Are all progressive lenses the same?
No. To meet each person’s needs, Essilor has developed a range of personalized Varilux progressive lenses that are adapted to each individual's eyesight
